Successors of the Huawei FreeBuds 3, the FreeBuds 4 are the new worthy representatives of the FreeBuds range from Huawei. This is a True Wireless headphone, which comes with amazing features like noise canceling on headphones, but it is not an in-ear headphone, but a classic type headphone. Adapted to complement the HarmonyOS operating system, it is therefore under these conditions that we will test the Huawei FreeBuds 4.

if (typeof __ez_fad_position! = ‘undefined’) {__ ez_fad_position (‘div-gpt-ad-charlestech_fr-box-3-0’)}; if (typeof __ez_fad_position! = ‘undefined’) {__ ez_fad_position (‘div-gpt-ad -charlestech_fr-box-3-0_1 ‘)}; if (typeof __ez_fad_position! =’ undefined ‘) {__ ez_fad_position (‘ div-gpt-ad-charlestech_fr-box-3-0_2 ‘)}; .box-3-multi-126 {border: none! important; display: block! important; float: none; line-height: 0px; margin-bottom: 15px! important; margin-left: 0px! important; margin-right : 0px! Important; margin-top: 15px! Important; min-height: 250px; min-width: 300px; padding: 0; text-align: center! Important;} As in all products from Huawei, we found a box rather pleasant visually, we easily notice the inspiration from Apple with its AirPods, we simply find a photo of the product here the Huawei FreeBuds 4 as well as the name of the headphones and on the back of the headphones box, we find technical information on the product, but also certification and warranty information.

From the opening of the box, we fall directly on the Huawei FreeBuds 4 and what is obvious is the color of the box, we find a plastic box in remarkable matt chrome silver color, premium on board it is a very special color that may not please everyone, noted that they are also available in white and it is true that in the catalog I had a preference for white like the AirPods but the color chrome is very well done and who does not overdo it, I do not regret having received the Huawei FreeBuds 4 in chrome colors.

Under the headphones part, we simply find the white USB-A to USB-C power cable with a length of 1 meter, in itself this is sufficient to simply recharge headphones, note that they are also rechargeable in wireless, but not a classic QI recharge as one would expect, but simply reverse charging with a smartphone of the brand. And in the rest of the box, we find to complete the user guide and the warranty notice. It would have been nice to have a headphone-colored cable in the box.

if (typeof __ez_fad_position! = ‘undefined’) {__ ez_fad_position (‘div-gpt-ad-charlestech_fr-medrectangle-3-0’)}; Now let’s talk about the design, the shape of a circular pebble, the case of these Huawei FreeBuds 4 has a very pleasant grip and feel, we quickly realize that we are on a quality product like Huawei likes to offer. On the front of the case there is only an LED to see the remaining battery level and know when they are used. On the edge of the case we only find the USB-C port to charge the headphones and at the back we notice the hinge to open the case to take the headphones, nothing more to say about the hinge and comfort me in the use which does not breathe at all the cheap but rather solidity.

This brings us to one of the most important things about headphones in general, the design of the headphones themselves. Of a relatively classic shape, from which we recognize the inspiration of the AirPods once again, but in itself this design appeals to many, in fact there are few different forms of headphones, between in-ear, semi-intra, or classic we quickly made the rounds. On the version received at the editors, we remind in chrome silver, we find really chrome headphones for once, here no mat, they are relatively flashy.

Audio level, the Huawei FreeBuds 4 are very good, that’s the end of the test. Seriously either, Huawei is not a basic audio manufacturer, does very well with its FreeBuds 4, the sound is particularly good and has nothing to envy of other manufacturers such as Apple or others. Of course, it depends on the use you make of them, for the simple fact of listening to music on Spotify or any other application, these headphones are very satisfactory for their price and are perfectly suitable for this use. If (typeof __ez_fad_position! = ‘undefined’) {__ ez_fad_position (‘div-gpt-ad-charlestech_fr-medrectangle-4-0’)}; if (typeof __ez_fad_position! = ‘undefined’) {__ ez_fad_position (‘div-gpt-ad-charlestech_fr-medrectangle- 4-0_1 ‘)}; .medrectangle-4-multi-104 {border: none! important; display: block! important; float: none; line-height: 0px; margin-bottom: 15px! important; margin-left: 0px! important; margin-right : 0px! Important; margin-top: 15px! Important; min-height: 250px; min-width: 250px; padding: 0; text-align: center! Important;}

We notice the presence of bass which in absolute terms is really good and will make you feel the music for who is not an audio professional. But the bass isn’t the most important part. The highs and mids are also very good and precise, although this does not apply to professional headphones, but for simple music lover you can go with your eyes closed.

No matter what style of music you are listening to, there is very little to see any music or the headphones are overloading or struggling. The RAP with the strong bass is very well transcribed, just like classic songs which give a lot of pleasure to hear the singers’ voice pushed to its maximum without having to remove the headphones for fear of hurting your ears.

It’s not Huawei’s fault for trying to put a noise canceling system on non-in-ear headphones, and it’s physically difficult to put together a good system when the ear canal isn’t blocked. physically.

We can’t blame Huawei for trying somehow to make this noise reduction technology accessible to products that are natively almost impossible, and losing nearly 1.5 hours of battery life just to try to reduce the sound is for the medium shot.

The Huawei FreeBuds are classically shaped headphones, which is to say a bit like the AirPods 1 & 2 from Apple. Their design is one size, they provide perfect support for 90% of users, but same problem as AirPods, a small part of the population has different ear shapes, which can be difficult for them to find a suitable ear. pair of headphones that do not fall out.

If ever the AirPods are not suitable for your ears, it is not even worth leaving on the Huawei FreeBuds, you will surely have the same problem, all this is still trying, good surprises can happen.

Of course, if you have the right ears, the headphones will fit without any problem, because of the total absence of intrusion into the ear canal, the headphones never cause any discomfort and know how to be completely forgotten.

In terms of functionality, there are controls on each earpiece, distributed over tactile surfaces on the back of the stem of both earphones. Controllers include by default: if (typeof __ez_fad_position! = ‘Undefined’) {__ ez_fad_position (‘div-gpt-ad-charlestech_fr-box-4-0’)};

As a result, this is one of the only negative points of these headphones, it is his gestures are practically unusable as it is difficult not to be abrupt in the movements and easily drop the headphones during sporting activity or simply inattention.

The Huawei AI Life mobile app, which is not available on the Apple App Store or even the PlayStore. It will not be possible to download the application for other brands of smartphones other than an APK version from the manufacturer’s website. So be aware that using the app on iOS will not work, and will be available on HarmonyOS and Android.

It is only on HarmonyOS that the Huawei FreeBuds 4 allow fast pairing and the integration of controls and parameters natively within the smartphone.

In addition to all these conditions, the application allows you to customize the different effects of gestures independently of the headphones from left to right. You also have the possibility to customize the sound settings, even if the default settings are very good, the application also allows you to make your headphones ring if you have lost them in the room or even in a bag, and of course future updates to the device. All this on one simple condition, not to be on iPhone.if (typeof __ez_fad_position! = ‘Undefined’) {__ ez_fad_position (‘div-gpt-ad-charlestech_fr-banner-1-0’)};

Here is the second rather negative point, autonomy. The manufacturer, in this case Huawei, announced 4 hours of battery life per earphone without noise reduction, but it was after a little over 3 hours and 30 minutes that the earphones died out for lack of battery.

Granted, that’s about 30 minutes less than Huawei advertised, but it must be said that sessions of more than 3 hours of music may be rare for some. However, for frequent travelers this can be difficult to accept. But the most difficult point to accept is the battery life with noise reduction, which is a big blow for Huawei, it falls well below 3 hours with only 2 hours of use.

Despite everything, the box promises to charge the headphones 4 times, and so far, I was able to charge the headphones almost 4.5 times, to last almost 20 hours with the headphones previously charged to the maximum.

The Huawei FreeBuds 4 are very good True Wireless Bluetooth headphones, despite a promise of noise reduction not the most effective, the sound is still very good. In terms of autonomy, the FreeBuds 4 do not respect the 4 hours announced by the manufacturer, and when you activate the noise reduction, it will take 2 hours and not much more autonomy.

Overall, these are great headphones, suitable for over 90% of the population and even more so for HarmonyOS and Android users. However, iPhone users remain in the dark here, the headphone controls will be more complicated to operate, it will only be done with the iPhone buttons, which is not very convenient. The Freebuds 4 are however satisfactory for the rest of the users.

Despite some negative points, the Huawei FreeBuds 4 are good headphones, very comfortable and stylish, with noise reduction functions as well as settings only available on HarmonyOS and Android.

In my life, I have spent more hours on Dofus than sleeping. And soon will take over.
