The Hollywood stars who own Wrexham said their dream was to bring the club to the English Premier League on Thursday.

Ryan Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney bought the club in February, saying , they wanted to make Wrexham a “global force”.

The club from the market town and former mining town in North East Wales has a long way to go to achieve this goal, as the third oldest professional football team in the world – Wrexham became in 1864 founded – currently playing in the fifth division of English football.

But after Wrexham lost 3-2 at Maidenhead on Tuesday, the co-owners are looking forward to seeing their first home game at the racetrack against Torquay on Saturday.
