Planet of the Apes: Andy Serkis (César) back for the Disney reboot?

Loki: 5 MCU Phase IV movies and series put together by Disney

Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3 will be a pivotal Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 film. Seven years after volume 2 (expected release in 2023), this new opus will be chronologically located nine years after Guardians vol 2, four years after Avengers: Endgame and only a short time after Thor 4, which will be released during the year 2022. The synopsis seems for the moment carefully kept under lock and key even if we were able to benefit from several crisp information. For example, James Gunn has confirmed that an essential character on the team could go from life to death. If he did not, however, announce that the plot would revolve around the search for the 2014 Gamora, Gunn may be forced to come to terms with a few elements discussed in Vol. 2.

The post-credits scene of the 2017 film did, in fact, usher in the birth of Adam Warlock, who appears to be guarded (or created) by Priestess Ayesha, who wanted the Guardians of the Galaxy to be eliminated. This overpowering character could therefore make his arrival in this new film, which could well be the last signed James Gunn.

A rumor started by the @Collectaholic_ Twitter account assumes the arrival of actor Will Poulter (The Revenant, The Maze Runner) to play the character. The media cosmiccircus.com announced that it had obtained more concrete information allowing this track to be considered quite tangible. It was also picked up by reporter Daniel Richtman, known to often have solid information on the world of the MCU.

The rumor also argues that the 28-year-old actor, who recently dropped his stint in the Lord of the Rings Amazon series for “scheduling conflicts,” may have favored the role of Adam Warlock, especially since the two shoots would have overlapped (Amazon would have considered shooting in one block the first two seasons of the series). Poulter hasn’t made a movie since Black Mirror: Bandersnatch in 2018 for Netflix and Ari Aster’s Midsommar in 2019.

For now, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, awaiting official confirmation from James Gunn, Marvel Studios or the person concerned. For Guardians of the Galaxy vol.3, it will be necessary to wait until May 2023.
