Ange Kouame led the Gilas with 13 points, but the team failed to open the King Abdullah Cup in Jordan to Egypt. (FIBA)

The Gilas Pilipinas fell 58-73 against Egypt at the start of the 10th King Abdullah Cup at the Prince Hamzah Sport Hall in Amman, Jordan. That month, the national team played the full game catch-up but managed to make their way within 58-64 move by six minutes, less than three minutes before the game.

However, Egypt didn’t fold when they responded with eight straight points to bring their lead back to 14, 72-58 and seal the win. Naturalized player Ange Kouame led the Gilas by 13 points and 11 rebounds, while great man Isaac Go added 13 marks. Dwight Ramos, who saw no action in the OQT due to a groin injury, had nine points, five rebounds, four assists and a block, while Thirdy Ravena was back on the team after his stay in the B.League in Japan, added eight points and eight boards added. The Gilas couldn’t find the mark from beyond the bow, however, as they only made four of their 27 attempts for a miserable 14% shot clip. The Gilas will try to move back if they get tangled up with Saudi Arabia on Wednesday at 6 p.m. (JNP)
