Houston – Thousands of CenterPoint Energy customers are without power as Hurricane Nicholas continues along the Texas coast.

The storm is likely to force many to turn to generators to run fans, air conditioners and refrigerators until the CenterPoint crews can get the power back online.

On Monday, Houston Fire Department chief Samuel Peña emphasized safety, especially with devices that can produce carbon monoxide.
