Jay Pickett, best known for his work on the soap operas General Hospital and Port Charles, died on Friday at the age of 60 of unknown reasons. Pickett was on location in Idaho shooting Treasure Valley when, according to actor and friend Jim Heffel, he died on horseback.

“Yesterday I lost a good friend and the world lost a great person. Jay Pickett decided to ride to heaven. Jay died in the movie Treasure Valley, Idaho, sitting on a horse ready to rop up an ox. The way of a real cowboy, “Heffel said of Pickett, who both co-produced the film with Travis Mills.

Mills shared a tribute to Pickett in a separate post on the film’s official Facebook page.

” Many of you have already heard of the tragedy that occurred two days ago, “he wrote on Sunday. “Jay Pickett, our lead actor, screenwriter, producer, and creator of this film died suddenly while we were there to film a scene. There is no official explanation for the cause of death, but it appears to have been a heart attack. Everyone present tried their best to keep him alive. Our hearts are broken and we mourn his family who are so devastated by this shocking tragedy. ”
