After 344 minutes of sophistication and cunning, but with a frustrating openness in front of goal, the Wolves gratefully accepted the gift of an own goal to prepare for their first victory of the Premier League season.

As in Bruno Lage’s team dominated the three opening games without a reward when Marçal rolled in a cross from a corner 16 minutes before the end and Watford defender Francisco Sierralta unnecessarily headed into his own goal.

The Chilean would have left the cross alone, with a head out of the box or with his right foot, but instead he bent down and let the ball fall off his head and past Watford keeper Daniel Bachmann amused.
