The Brazilian Agency for Public Health Surveillance (ANVISA) has ruled. At the end of the investigation she opened to ensure that Argentinian internationals Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero (Tottenham), Emiliano Buendia and Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa) had not violated the health protocol, she decided to put them immediately in isolation, which prevents them from participating in Brazil-Argentina this Sunday (9 p.m., in Sao Paulo, to be followed live with commentary), in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.

Under a federal ordinance dating from last June, anyone who has stayed in four countries (including the United Kingdom) for 14 days before entering Brazilian territory must submit to a quarantine. However, these four players did not do it and they were thus sanctioned.

It is therefore in vain that the Argentine Federation has put forward the agreement between the ten countries of the Conmebol (the South American Confederation) to allow players to circulate and participate in the qualifying matches within the framework of the sanitary bubble.
