Carlos Sainz was scared in the second practice session after a rather violent crash at the wheel of his Ferrari. With the front end completely destroyed, the driver’s participation in this afternoon’s sprint seemed more than compromised, but he could finally hold his place on the starting grid. This is also reassuring news for the driver, who has therefore received the medical green light in order to be able to participate in the race.

In practice 1 and qualifying on Friday, Mercedes had been relegated to almost half a second from Red Bull. Bottas and Hamilton will start in the front row of the qualifying sprint race on Saturday at 4.30 pm, ahead of Verstappen and Lando Norris (McLaren). PÃ © rez, 4th time in practice, will only start from the fifth row after his 9th time in qualifying.
