Exports of anti-Covid vaccines produced within the European Union will no longer be subject to an authorization request from January 1, 2022. It was expected that the transparency and authorization mechanism for these exports put in place at the start of 2021 in the EU expires on December 31, which the EU confirmed on November 26. This mechanism will however be replaced by another, known as surveillance, and intended to collect data relating to exports of these vaccines produced on European soil. Producers will therefore no longer be subject to export authorization applications but will have to notify the customs authorities of the Member States for all their shipments outside the EU.
