Victorious thanks to Christophe Laporte last week on the Tour du Limousin, the Cofidis team has won again, this time through Elia Viviani, on the Tour du Poitou-Charentes. The 32-year-old Italian dominated the massive sprint of the first stage on Tuesday, ahead of his teammate Simone Consonni and Frenchman Marc Sarreau (AG2R-Citroën).
Timothy Dupont (Bingoal-Pauwels Sauces-WB) took fifth place. Omnium bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics, Viviani had not raised her arms under Cofidis’ jersey since March. His two victories in the Settimana Ciclistica Italiana, in July, were indeed obtained with the Italian team.
