Just in time for the five hundredth anniversary of the introduction of Christianity to the country, real estate developer Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI) laid the foundation stone for the mixed-use complex on the grounds of the old Patria de Cebu along the Cebu Cultural Trail on Monday, April 19 The CLI and the Archdiocese of Cebu said the final draft of the project, approved by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), aimed to preserve the historic building of the Patria de Cebu – not just its facade – after the noise of the local heritage groups.

“We really pray because we believe this project will be carried out by people who have a sincere desire to achieve their own goals,” said Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma Hotel with 182 rooms in the heart of downtown Cebu City. “The final design of the Patria de Cebu is the result of a collaboration between the Archdiocese of Cebu, CLI and key stakeholders. It is a celebration of the history and culture of Cebuano in today’s environment, ”said CLI Chairman Jose Soberano III. Named after the historic Catholic recreation center that was popular with young professionals in the 1950s, the Patria de Cebu redevelopment will include 4,320 square feet of dining, dining and entertainment spaces, as well as 4,400 square feet of office space. There will be a large central indoor space for cultural and other gatherings. Outdoor events will also take place on the roof. Social and business gatherings are also held in the ballroom and meeting rooms of the Mercure Cebu Downtown, which is slated to open in 2024. The hotel is operated by the French multinational Accor, a leading global hotel group. The CLI’s collaboration with the Archdiocese of Cebu includes the development and operation of the mixed-use project for 40 years. A collaboration between CLI and the Archdiocese of Cebu, the mixed-use complex was designed to revive this historic center of Cebu. In front of the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, which was built in the Baroque-Rococo style, the new Patria de Cebu was “visually” envisaged by the architect Jose Pedro Recio Bridge between the old and the new ”with the approval of the NHCP.Fr. Brian Brigoli, chairman of Cebu’s Archdiocesan Commission on the Church’s Cultural Heritage, said that when people see the new Patria, they are brought back to their original visual integrity. (JOB)
