Riot Games will hold a draw for the League of Legends 2021 Worlds Play-In and Main Event on Wednesday, September 22 at 2 p.m.

It is the big day, that of the draw; the 22 teams qualified for the 2021 League of Legends Worlds will know their next opponents. As in previous years, this event is broadcast entirely live and includes the draw for the group stage of the Play-In as well as the draw for the group stage of the Main Event.

Due to the inability of the VCS teams to come to Europe, the seed 3 of the European league LEC, namely Rogue, reclaims the seed 1 place of the Vietnamese league and is automatically qualified for the group stage. Hans sama and his mates no longer need to play Play-In to reach the Main Event. Regarding the Vietnamese seed 2, this slot has been deleted and the Play-In will be played with 10 teams.

The entire draw will be carried out live and will be commented in English on the Riot Games channel, as well as in French on the OTP channel.

The 10 teams will be divided after a draw into two groups of five, where they will compete for the four places available for the group stage of the Main event. Each team will play a match against all the other teams in its group. Depending on the results during this group stage:

The group stage consists of 16 teams, 12 who qualified directly and 4 from Play-In, divided into 4 groups after drawing lots. Each group is played in a double round robin in a winning round, each team playing twice against all the opponents in its group, ie a double BO1. The two best teams from each group will advance to the ultimate event of the tournament: the playoffs. If there is a tie, the teams will play a tie-break match to decide the final classification of the group.
