Hansi Flick, who was recently appointed national manager to succeed Joachim Löw, presented his very first roster at the top of the squad on Friday. The 56-year-old tactician has called up a squad of 26 players for September’s three games that count towards 2022 World Cup qualifiers (September 5) and then Iceland (September 8).
Note the presence of Marco Reus, who was often handicapped by injuries during his international career, but also three European Under-21 champions. Defenders David Raum (23, TSG Hoffenheim) and Nico Schlotterbeck (21, SC Freiburg) as well as striker Karim Adeyemi (19), resident of Red Bull Salzburg, have been called up by the former Bayern Munich coach .
