Sparta Prague qualified for the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League on Wednesday, where they will meet AS Monaco.
Sparta Prague qualified on Wednesday July 28 by beating Rapid Vienna (2-0) and joined Monaco in the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League, while Mathieu Valbuena’s Olympiakos defeated Neftchi Baku.
Beaten 2-1 in the first leg in Vienna, the Czechs won their qualification thanks to Moberg-Karlsson (16th s.p.) and Pesek at the end of the game (81st). They will therefore face AS Monaco, which enters the competition in the third round from August 3. Winner at home (1-0) against Neftchi Baku last week, Olympiakos ensured its qualification, again on the smallest of margins. Already decisive in the first leg, Mathieu Valbuena provided an assist for Giorgos Masouras, the only scorer of the match (15th).
For their part, PSV Eidhoven did not tremble against Galatasaray by winning 2-1. The Dutch handed the Turkish club a 5-1 home slap in the first leg. It was more undecided on the Denmark side as Midtjylland, who first reached the group stages of the competition last season, took over Celtic Glasgow after extra time (1-1 in the first leg, 2 -1 after return). The Red Star of Belgrade, with a goal from Lois Diony, Ludogorets, Cluj, Sheriff Tiraspol and the Young Boys of Bern are the other qualifiers for the evening.
