TORONTO –
Canada is one of the latest countries to be added to the UK’s green travel list, which means that Canadian travelers no longer need to be quarantined upon arrival in the country.

The UK Department of Transport has announced that Canada, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and the Azores will switch from amber to green with the latest changes to the UK’s COVID-19 travel rules.

The department noted that these changes were made after considering the COVID-19 case numbers, vaccine uptake and variant rate in each country.

According to the ministry, these countries will be given the green light from 4 a.m. on August 30. Travelers who have previously arrived in the UK must continue to abide by the yellow list rules.

Travelers coming from any of the Green List countries do not need to be quarantined upon arrival in the UK regardless of their vaccination status. However, you must have a COVID-19 test before departure within three days of your flight to the UK and an additional two days of arrival.

According to the department, travelers do not need to be quarantined unless one of their test results is positive.

Despite the change, the Canadian Health Service continues to advise travelers to avoid non-essential travel outside the country and to exercise extra caution when they need to travel.

While seven countries were upgraded to the UK’s green list, two others were downgraded to the red list.

According to the British Ministry of Transport, Thailand and Montenegro will be put on the red list from Monday.

The change means only UK residents and nationals traveling from Thailand and Montenegro will be allowed to enter the country after an 11-day quarantine and series of COVID-19 tests.
