It has been said: “Dying can wait”, the latest film in the James Bond saga to date, and the last with Daniel Craig in the lead role, hit the nail on the head even before its release in France and the United States, with $ 119 million in his cash drawer. As for “Venom, Let There Be Carnage”, the sequel to the adventures of the Marvel superhero inhabited by a symbiote, it has garnered more than $ 90 million in North America (it will be released in French-speaking Switzerland on October 20).

But the two films are pale in comparison to “Battle at Lake Changjin” and its 234 million dollars, explains Variety. Wasn’t that film on your list of box office hits? Normal: this blockbuster (budget 200 million dollars) comes directly from China (and should stay there, an international distribution is not planned for the moment).

Co-directed by Chen Kaige (“Farewell my concubine”), Tsui Hark (“Detective Dee”) and Dante Lam (“Snipers, snipers”), “Battle at Lake Changjin” thus enters the world top 10 of the year, in 9th place between “Without noise 2” (297 million) and “Cruella” (233 million).

This patriotic film (see trailer above), which chronicles how the Chinese helped the Koreans fight the Americans in 1950 during the Korean War, was released as part of the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party.

But beware, James Bond has not said his last word: it will be released in Middle Empire theaters on October 29, 2021.
