Craig Gardner will lead the final game of Birmingham City’s championship season at Blackburn Rovers today.

Head coach Lee Bowyer will be absent for family reasons – the club is already certain of its championship status.

On the Asked how he would personally plan the end of a busy season for both Blues and Bowyer, he said, “I’m going to go home to the family, my wife had major surgery a few weeks ago, that was me, it was not ideal. I’ll go there and make sure she is fine and the kids just to support her.

“This is my plan to work from home, meet players and nail down what we are in the future. “

Bowyer has made an excellent turnaround in Blues’ fortune since succeeding Aitor Karanka in March. Five wins from eight games have kept the club safe and two games left.
