Senator Bong Go declined to support a PDP-Laban faction on Monday, August 30th, so that he could run for president in the 2022 elections.

Go wrote a letter to the president of PDP-Laban and Secretary of Energy Alfonso Cusi, for rejecting the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) nomination, saying he wanted to focus on his role as chairman of the Senate Health Committee.

“I am deeply honored The confidence of the members of the NEC in my ability to run for president in the upcoming 2022 elections is a great personal honor for me, “said Go.

” As much as I react to the shouts of many of our party colleagues I respectfully decline said approval. As I have said many times, I am not interested in the presidency, “he added.

The same PDP-Laban group has President Rodrigo Duterte as his Vice-presidential bet confirmed, previously accepted by Duterte.

Go’s decision came after his association with controversial undersecretary for the budget, Lloyd Christopher Lao, was revealed in a Senate hearing.

Go’s name was given during the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing the alleged irregularities in the purchases of the procurement service – Department of Household and Administration (PS-DBM) for the Ministry of Health (DOH) mentioned several times.

An investigation report by Rappler showed that the largest supplier of medical devices to the Philippine government during the pandemic , who has an association with Duterte’s former economic adviser Michael Yang, Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation.

Lao’s Pharmally ties were raised in the Senate hearing, but Lao denied it. –
