This Monday, August 23 at around 4 p.m., a tourist plane from the Bondues flying club crashed near the city’s airfield, in an activity zone in the town of Wambrechies. The two individuals on board “of the plane died”, noted the SDIS du Nord. It was a pilot and a passenger.
Significant resources have been put in place to find the victims: 3 fire-fighting vehicles, 2 victim rescue vehicles, medical, reconnaissance and search resources. In total, 37 firefighters were mobilized.
According to a source close to the emergency services contacted by AFP, the plane crashed in a field, close to the runways. The police and investigators are currently on site to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
This tragedy follows a similar tragedy that occurred on June 12. A tourist plane had also crashed in Wambrechies and left three people dead.
