A carpenter was arrested while several bomb components were confiscated from an operation in Zamboanga Sibugay province, police reported on Saturday May 29, 2021. Police lieutenant colonel Albert Larubis, police director of Zamboanga Sibugay, identified the arrested suspect as a buddy Asamuddin. 45, a carpenter by trade.

Larubis said Asamudding was arrested while on a search warrant for violating Republic Act 9516 for the unlawful manufacture, sale, purchase, disposal, importation or possession of an explosive or incendiary device around 7:20 a.m. on Saturday at Purok 1 in the village of Pulo Mabao, Olutanga, Zamboanga Sibugay. Larubis said the raid team had confiscated Asamuddin’s property with the following items: 53 bags of ammonium nitrate, four pieces of detonation caps, one 25-inch detonating cord dyed yellow; and a 26-inch detonating cord that is dyed red. He said the arrested suspects and the confiscated items are under the custody of the Olutnga City Police Station for proper disposal. (SunStar Zamboanga)
