“We are pleased to announce that we have signed Bobby Ray Parks Jr. of the Philippines for the 2021-22 B.League season. Ray is registered as an Asian Player Quotas. His contract will be official as soon as he has received his medical certificate, “read the contribution of the Nagoya City team to bring home a championship,” said the 28-year-old son of the late great Bobby Park. “I’m looking forward to meeting my team-mates, management and, most importantly, the fans,” he added. Parks will bring a lot of experience with him from his time dominating the ASEAN Basketball League, where he won three awards for Most Valuable Player, and the Philippine Basketball Association, where he played for the TNT Tropang Giga and they played through to the 2020 Philippine Cup final led. Though TNT missed the title and lost to Barangay Ginebra, the 6-foot-4 winger had a spectacular season averaging 22.35 points, 7.82 rebounds, 3.12 assists and 1.53 steals per outing. Controversy, however, haunted Parks during the off-season when he chose not to sign an extension with TNT and take a break. Fortunately, he was able to get permission from the PBA to play in Japan. Parks is the newest Filipino basketball player to sign up to play in the B.League. He will join the likes of Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena, Juan and Javi Gomez de Liano and Kemark Cariño. JNP
