Blues Clues Sneak Peek: Steve and Joe return in Nickelodeon Reboot – Watch
Blue’s Clues Reboot Video: Nickelodeon Classic Gets New Host, CGI Makeover
Blue’s Clues turns 25 this week … and Nick Jr. is celebrating by bringing back an old friend.
Steve Burns, the original host of the long-running kids’ show, appeared in a cute video on Tuesday that Nick Jr. shared and reached out directly to fans as he once did on the show, bringing up a sticky topic: his exit from the show in 2002. In his signature green striped shirt and with his soft one , friendly “Steve” voice, he asks if we remember when “one day I thought, ‘Oh hey, you know what? Big news, I’m leaving … and we haven’t seen each other for a really long time? Can we just talk about it? “Burns admits that his departure was” kind of abrupt, “but he had to go to college and” now I’m literally doing a lot of the things I wanted to do. “He’s also wondering about how far his viewers have come in the years since he last saw them: They started with clues, and now they have “student loans and jobs and families, and some of it was kind of tough, wasn’t it?” I really couldn’t have done all of this with your help, “he says, adding that I’ve never forgotten you all these years later.”
Blue’s Clues made his debut with Nick Jr. on September 8, 1996, with Burns guided preschoolers through a series of mysteries with the help of his animated dog, Blue. It was a big hit, but Burns left the show in 2002 and turned the reins to “Joe” (played by Donovan Patton). The show lasted until 2006 and was recently named Blue’s Clues & You! restarted, which premiered on Nickelodeon in 2019. Burns and Patton returned to make a cameo at the premiere of the Reboot series.
