Bassam Tariq, director of the upcoming Blade reboot, starring Mahershala Ali, said they will pay tribute to Wesley Snipes’ original trilogy.

The filmmaker paid his respects to Snipes in a recent interview with IndieWire and shared his enthusiasm for working on the new restart. “The exciting thing about the movie we’re making is that there wasn’t a canon for ‘Blade’ as we read through the comics and everything,” said Tariq. “That he’s a daywalker is the only thing that got established, and we can’t deny what Wesley Snipes did, which is basically got the whole ball rolling. A black man created the superhero world we are in, that’s just the truth. For me, now to work with someone as talented and a juggernaut as Mahershala Ali and the writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour, that’s just me – I am so honored to work with real black juggernaut and black talent. It’s really an honor for me to just be in this room with them and listen and learn as I expand. ”Production for the upcoming Blade film is slated to begin in July 2022. Stay tuned for more details.
