Falling trees, power cuts, floods … In Essonne, placed in vigilance orange storms by Weather France this Saturday evening, firefighters and gendarmes reported many related incidents s to inclement weather.
“From 5.30 p.m. this Saturday afternoon, the department of Essonne was affected by a relatively important stormy episode, especially in the north and west”, explains on our branch Jean-Charles Gilcart, colonel of permanence of the SDIS 91, which counts, around 8:30 pm, 280 interventions.
The storm indeed caused a real downpour this Saturday in the department, causing flooding locally. No injuries are to be deplored, however.
“In not ten minutes, the water level rose in the street. A drain outlet even exploded”, tells a witness on our antenna. “Normally we have facilities designed to hold water, but then they were useless. It was a torrent in the gardens.”
“This episode is now behind us,” said the firefighter, who however calls on the population to remain cautious, especially as new precipitation is expected in the evening.
As a precaution, the national road RN20 is also closed in both directions near La-Ville-du-Bois, the Essonne gendarmerie announced this Saturday evening.
