Former England defender Anton Ferdinand spoke to the British Parliament’s Home Affairs Committee on Wednesday as part of an investigation into social media harassment. Now retired after a career at West Ham and Queens Park Rangers in particular, Ferdinand urged the web giants to finally take into account the problem of racism he has faced and which has sometimes weighed on his morale, while adding that ‘a player could, one day, no longer bear it and commit suicide.

The former defender (36) added that multinationals should use technology to better identify inappropriate posts before they are sent and to make it easier to know the identity of anonymous accounts.
