SAN FRANCISCO – The plan all along took into account that Andre Iguodala found favorable, strategic times to save his health for a playoff chase months later. But on Friday night his absence extended into his fifth game.
Iguodala, 37, has swelling in his right knee, said coach Steve Kerr. Despite the prolonged absence of the 18th century veteran,
“As you get older, things take longer to heal,” said Kerr. “That happens when you have so much mileage. Something happens and it keeps you out a little longer. It’s not a long-term concern. Just wait until the swelling goes down, it goes down and then he has to stand in the square for a few days. ”
Iguodala will be traveling with the Warriors on their upcoming two-game road trip to Los Angeles and Phoenix, but Kerr said it was “unlikely” that he will play.
Iguodala was back inactive on Friday, missing the Warriors’ last five games and not playing in 10 days after recording a productive 19 minutes in their Brooklyn win.
In 12 games this season, Iguodala averages 3.8 points, 3.5 assists and 3.8 rebounds in 20.8 minutes, while his teammates rave about playing by his side.

The Warriors’ bench was particularly tight against the Trail Blazers, with Damion Lee being out for personal reasons and her rookie pair Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody playing in the G League.
This made Otto Porter Jr., Nemanja Bjelica, Juan Toscano-Anderson and Chris Chiozza the only players available on the Warriors’ bench.
“We feel like we have enough tonight to accomplish what we need to accomplish,” said Kerr. “We play our usual rotation. … We have a very deep team and that is one of the advantages. We can use this depth in a night like today. “
