Aespa are in a league of their own. As a group under the icon of SM Entertainment, they are part of a great legacy that follows in the footsteps of groups like Girls’ Generation and K-pop queens like BoA. But they are creating their own path to success with hit singles “Black Mamba” and “Forever” and their avatars that have become part of the group’s signature and allow fans to connect with them and newer paths than others in the game. Now they’re back with a third single, “Next Level,” and things will no doubt get bigger than ever for the group as they prepare for this highly anticipated comeback.
Seventeen got to talk about their new with aespa Track talk about being a part of SM Entertainment and how they bonded with fans at a time when it seems limiting.
WINTER: Our new single is a hip-hop dance song that contains a different style of choreography than the powerful, heavy choreography that we presented with our debut song “Black Mamba”. “Next Level” is a sequel to the story of “Black Mamba” set in our own unique world and you can expect to see a new side of Aespa this time around.
KARINA: It tells the story of Aespa and our personal Avatar colleague ‘ae’ who go on an adventure to “KWANGYA” to find “Black Mamba”, the antagonist who threatens our “SYNK” and disturbs, which represents the connection between us and the ‘ae’.
NINGNING: Now that we have more experience on stage, we felt more comfortable and are now happy to perform. I am having so much fun!
GISELLE: As part of such a legendary company as SM Entertainment, I am constantly learning and improving as an artist. I haven’t had a moment when I felt like I had reached my limit or reached enough. I am fortunate to have so many people around me who help me become the best artist I can be. Especially with all the artists before us who have achieved so much, we want to follow in their footsteps and achieve great success. They inspire us to dream bigger and work harder.
NINGNING: First of all, I’d like to say a big thank you to our fans for their continued support. We are overwhelmed with so much love! Although we can’t meet in person at the moment, we hope that our fans get to know us better through our vlogs and various content. We gain so much energy and strength when we connect with our ‘MYs’. Thanks to them, I’m in high spirits every day!
GISELLE: There are so many! To bring you the latest, we were honored to partner with a very talented photographer Bryan Huynh and stylist Cece Liu for our upcoming debut album photoshoot. They traveled halfway around the world for us and it was our first time that we worked with an international team. They are so talented at what they do and I enjoyed learning about their creative process. It has been less than a year since our debut and I am learning so much from different people in their respective fields. It’s been a great time so far! We are grateful to have a dedicated team of employees who inspire us to work harder every day. The photo shoot was a huge success and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in the process.
WINTER: Meet and get closer to our fans through concerts or even fan meetings! I can’t wait to present all the different sides of Aespa for our “MYs”.
KARINA: For our “MYs”, who have been patiently waiting for our comeback, we have a big surprise in store for you, which contains a lot of exciting performances and content that we can’t wait to share with you. We miss you all so much!
