Vernon Kay has tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss his debut this Tuesday morning, with Eamonn Holmes stepping in.
Holmes said he will also cover for Alison Hammond, who missed the show on Monday due to “illness”.
Kay was supposed to join the line-up with regular host Rochelle Humes for three days before Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby return from their summer break.
Holmes, who Hosted the show with Ruth Langsford in the summer, tweeted on Sunday: “Just when you thought you got rid of me … Illness with @AlisonHammond and @vernonkay means I’m out of the bank.
” Get well soon, but i have my boots on and i’m ready to play. The line-up on Monday and Tuesday is now me and @RochelleHumes. I hope you can join us. “
He told the newspaper:” I am absolutely disappointed that, due to a positive Covid test next week, I will no longer be able to present This Morning with Rochelle, yet Radio 2 as a guest host and Steve Wright’s cover, two iconic shows that I’ve been “I’ve been a fan of for decades.”
Kay was originally scheduled to host Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It is still unclear whether he will moderate on Wednesday or Thursday.
Humes should also meet with Hammond on Friday, but it is not known whether Hammond can return.

The co-presenter Dermot O’Leary, who regularly takes place on Friday, will present parts of the Friday show live from Manchester, where he will be stationed in preparation for the charity soccer game Soccer Aid.
