This Monday, August 23, in the morning, a Toulouse-Lyon TGV crashed into a car at the Montgiscard level crossing. The traffic has been interrupted. Details.
The accident occurred around 7:56 am in the town of Montgiscard. A collision took place between the TGV6871 making a Toulouse-Lyon route and a city car. According to the SNCF, “it would seem that it is following a forcing of the level crossing”. A gendarmerie investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. More fear than harm, no injuries are to be deplored despite material damage. The driver was taken care of by the emergency services and the SNCF technical teams were on site to clear the tracks.
Traffic was interrupted between Castelnaudary and Toulouse in both directions until 11:15 a.m. “A gradual recovery is underway” communicates SNCF. When stationary, TGV passengers received meals, bottled water and masks. As soon as possible, they were driven back to Toulouse at low speed (20km / h). “They arrived shortly after 11:30 am,” SNCF assures us.
