Around 4:30 p.m. this Sunday, a Civil Security helicopter crashed in the town of Villard-de-Lans. Significant aid was dispatched to the site. The human toll is not yet known. A technical problem could be the cause of the accident.

According to our information, the Civil Security helicopter had been called to Villard-de-Lans to rescue a mountain biker in difficulty. On board was a crew of five, pilot, mechanic and rescuers.

Gilles Toureng, who was walking with his family in the area, noticed that the aircraft was having problems as it flew over the area. And suddenly he heard an explosion and saw thick black smoke behind a hill, where in winter there is a ski slope.

“From what I know,” this witness told us, “two bloody but living people got out of the helicopter. A third person is said to be more seriously injured.”

Important help was immediately mobilized, the Samu and the PGHM, but also the firefighters are currently on site.
