The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake occurred 60 miles southeast of Baras, Catanduanes, at 12:29 p.m.

State seismologists said the quake had a depth of field of 20 miles and was of tectonic origin.

At the time of writing, Phivolcs reported no intensity after the tremor as the quake was most likely not felt on the mainland.
