Sultan Kudarat had an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 on Shaken Sunday, July 11th, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) announced.

Phivolcs said the quake occurred around 2:45 a.m. and traced its epicenter 14 kilometers southwest of Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.

Phivolcs said that the earthquake at Intensity IV in Kalamansig, Palimbang and Lebak in Sulta Kudarat was felt as a “moderately strong” earthquake.

The instruments vo n Phivolcs also recorded the earthquake at Intensity III in Kiamba, Sarangani, Intensity II in Zamboanga City and Intensity I in Malungon, Sarangani and General Santos City.

The quake was of tectonic origin, which means that the quake caused by the Movement of an active fault in the region was caused.
