MANILA, Philippines – Three players from Meralco and Barangay Ginebra tested positive for COVID-19 while in the PBA’s pampanga bubble, a source told the Inquirer.
The bolts had two of their players positive COVID-19 test results while one of the Gin Kings was.
It was recalled that the match originally planned for Sunday between Meralco and Ginebra in the Philippine Cup 2021 has been postponed to a later date. </ The source said the Ginebra player was the first to test positive among all PBA athletes.
The PBA had to host their games at Don Honorio Ventura State University in Bacolor to get the All-Filipino Conference resumed after Metro Manila was placed under increased community quarantine.
Prior to the ECQ’s statement, the league played its games at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial previously said that more than 9 0 percent of the players have already been vaccinated.
However, Marcial has remained silent about the circumstances of the players, as health problems are protected by the patient confidentiality law.
