Covid-19 is the cause of 117 additional deaths in Occitania between last Friday and Tuesday. The number of hospitalized and intensive care patients is on the rise, announces the Regional Health Agency.

ARS Occitanie announces a sharp rise in the number of deaths from Covid-19 in the region. 117 people died in four days, between Friday March 20 and Tuesday March 23. The total number of deaths has risen to 3,564 in our region since the outbreak of the epidemic over a year ago.

In four days, the number of additional deaths amounts to 3 in Ariège, 8 in Aude, 3 in Aveyron, 22 in Gard, 29 in Haute-Garonne, 4 in Gers, 18 in Hérault, 2 in Lozère, 8 in the Hautes-Pyrénées, 8 in the Pyrénées-Orientales, 8 in the Tarn and 4 in the Tarn-et-Garonne. Only the Lot did not record any additional deaths.

The numbers are on the rise at the hospital. 124 additional people were admitted to hospitals and clinics in Occitanie. 1463 patients are currently treated. 293 people are admitted to intensive care and critical care, 32 more patients than four days ago.

1,540 positive cases are detected on average per day in the region, says ARS. 10,779 cases were thus recorded between March 16 and 22, 2021. The test positivity rate is 5.2% on average.

The vaccination campaign continues actively day after day. Nearly 850,000 doses of the vaccine have already been administered, according to the ARS. Thus in our region, 92% of residents of nursing homes and USLDs have been vaccinated, 48% of people over 75 years old, 15% of people 65 to 74 years old and 10% of the population.
